In this episode, we compare the Winnebago Navion and Porto at the Greater Chicago RV Show. These two Class Cs are about the same size and have similar floorplan options, but they feel very different inside. We’ll compare design, layout, finishes, and the new & old Mercedes Sprinter cabs.
If you know anything about RVs, then you’ve heard the name Winnebago. When I was growing up in Alaska in the late 70s and 80s, I used to dream of sleeping in the overhead bunk of a Class C Winnie. Why? I have no idea, it just seemed cool!
In a way, that dream came true when we rented an RV from Cruise America. Our unit was manufactured by Winnebago, and that overhead bunk was indeed very comfortable. However, there were definitely some issues with how that rental unit was built and I started to question whether a Winnebago is really the best way to go.
